Garden Hours and Season
The garden is open daily to the public, free of charge during daylight hours. The sun containers are wheelchair accessible with concrete sidewalks and the rest of the garden has wide pathways with wood chip mulch or turf along the edges of the beds.
The Annual Flower Trial Garden is planted with annuals from late May through October. Pansies and other cool season plants are planted in the fall and are on display through early spring. The Perennial Trial Garden is displayed year round across the street in front of the Center for the Arts and is a trial for newly introduced perennials. For more of the “tried and true” perennials in a traditional landscape setting, be sure to visit the Perennial Demonstration Garden just north of the perennial trials on the northwest corner of the Center for the Arts.
You are encouraged to visit and take note of the new varieties being grown and to observe and study the different growth habits, tolerances and visual characteristics of the many different varieties that have been put on display.
Please respect our garden and our research efforts
Do not pick the flowers or remove any plant material from the garden. Keep children and pets out of the flower beds. This is designated as a “passive” park and no athletic activities/games are allowed. Dogs must be kept on a leash and picked up after.
